By the light of a gas lantern, Mount Pleasant's first vintage was crafted. It was 1921 and Maurice O'Shea wasn't afforded the luxury of electricity. Equipped only with the basic tools, O'Shea brought Mount Pleasant to life.
From Old Hill, planted in 1880 by Charles King, to the Rosehill and Lovedale vineyards planted by Maurice O'Shea in 1946, each of our vineyard sites create unique and personal wines that are part of the fabric of the Mount Pleasant story.
O'Shea's pursuit of perfection and his spirit of innovation helped cement the Hunter Valley as a premier Australian wine region. Nearly 100 years on, the equipment has evolved, but the principles remain the same. Using iconic vineyards to craft expressive wines, honouring the birthplace of Australian winemaking.
