Purple Hands Wines started out in 2006 as a wine journey between two good mates, Craig Stansborough and Mark Slade. Our home is located in the southern Barossa, our heart is a 32 Acre vineyard planted with Shiraz, Montepulciano and Aglianico.
Our aim is to produce fruit driven wines of elegance and texture, showcasing not only the Barossa but each little patch of dirt where we source grapes from. We aim to make balanced wines so they can be consumed as young wines, but will also become interesting and enjoyable older wines.
A red wine makers hands become stained purple during vintage due to the constant contact with grape skins and the juice and hence the name and our logo.
The brand has grown to receive 5 star status and was selected in the top 10 new 5 star wineries in the 2013 James Halliday Wine Companion.
Craig Stansborough was awarded the 2014 Barossa winemaker of the year. In 2019 Purple Hands was awarded Best Small Producer at the Barossa Wine Show, with 3 Trophies and 8 Gold medals.
